The MikroTik L009UiGS-RM is a compact, wired-only router built for small offices, home networks, and light home lab use where dedicated Wi-Fi hardware already exists or simply isn't needed. It's essentially the wired sibling of the L009UiGS-2HaxD-IN, offering the same Gigabit switch, 2.5G SFP uplink, and flexible PoE support in the same slim heat-sink chassis, but without onboard wireless, at a lower price point.

Overview

The L009UiGS-RM is built around a dual-core IPQ-5018 ARM processor running at 800 MHz, with 512 MB of RAM and 128 MB of NAND storage. It ships with RouterOS v7 pre-installed and includes a RouterOS Level 5 license, unlocking MikroTik's full routing, firewall, VPN, and traffic-management feature set, along with free RouterOS updates for the life of the product (a minimum of five years).

Ports and Connectivity

The router provides eight Gigabit Ethernet ports for LAN and WAN connections, plus a single SFP cage supporting 2.5G speeds for a fast fiber or copper-SFP uplink. Switching is handled by a Marvell 88E6190 "Peridot" chip, which provides a 2.5 Gigabit full-duplex connection to the CPU so the SFP uplink isn't bottlenecked. Port 1 accepts PoE-in (802.3af/at, 24–56V) so the router itself can be powered over Ethernet, while Ether8 provides passive PoE-out (up to 1A) for powering a downstream device such as an access point or camera. Additional I/O includes a USB 3.0 Type-A port (1.5A max) with USB Power Reset functionality, and an RJ45 serial console port for direct CLI access.

Flexible Power Options

Power can be supplied either through the included 24V/1.5A DC power adapter or via PoE-in on port 1, making installation straightforward in wiring closets or anywhere a dedicated power outlet is inconvenient. Maximum power consumption is rated at 40W when powering attached PoE-out and USB devices, or as little as 8W for the router on its own. Like the rest of the RB5009-style lineup, the unit is entirely fanless, with its metal case doubling as a passive heat sink.

Build and Physical Design

The L009UiGS-RM shares its compact 220 x 125 x 22 mm form factor with the RB5009 and L009UiGS-2HaxD-IN, and its enclosure is designed as a 1U rackmount-ready unit, with the optional K-79 rackmount kit allowing up to four units to sit side by side in a single 1U rack space. For desktop or wall placement, the included screw kit (K-55/K-87) and adhesive pads let it be mounted directly without a rack. The case carries an IP20 rating and is intended for dry, ventilated indoor environments, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to 70°C and an estimated MTBF of around 200,000 hours at 25°C. It is certified to CE, EAC, and RoHS standards.

Software: RouterOS v7

Running RouterOS v7 with a Level 5 license, the L009UiGS-RM supports advanced firewalling and NAT, VLANs, VPN protocols (WireGuard, IPsec, OpenVPN), dynamic and static routing (OSPF, BGP, RIP), traffic shaping and queueing, hotspot/captive portal features, and container support, all configurable through WinBox, WebFig, or the command-line interface.

This router is a good fit for small offices and home networks that already have separate access points (or don't need Wi-Fi at all) and want dedicated routing and switching hardware with a fast 2.5G uplink for internet or NAS traffic. The PoE-in capability makes it easy to power from a wiring closet or PoE injector, while PoE-out on Ether8 lets it directly power a small downstream device like a camera or access point without a separate injector. The L009UiGS-RM shares nearly identical core hardware with the L009UiGS-2HaxD-IN (same CPU, RAM, port layout, and chassis), but omits the built-in 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 radio and antenna kit. This makes it a slightly cheaper option for anyone who doesn't need onboard wireless, while keeping the same routing, switching, PoE, and rack-mounting capabilities.
